Algen Extract

Algen Extract

House & Garden’s Algen Extract is a premium blend of Norwegian Sea Kelp containing high levels of active ingredients. Algen Extract promotes vigorous vegetative growth as well as aiding the plant’s nutrient uptake. Made in small batches, you can be sure Algen Extract will always be fresh.

Derived From: Ammonium Nitrate, Nitric Acid, Potassium Hydroxide

Ingredients Explained: This product is extracted from Norwegian Sea Kelp by way of “cold press” technology. This process is designed to preserve active ingredients from the Norwegian Sea all the way to your garden. House & Garden maintains their own nutrient manufacturing facility as well as their own laboratories where they continually test each batch of fertilizer they produce. This ensures that gardeners employing House & Garden receive high quality, consistent products.

Application: Add to nutrient solution or use as a foliar spray. Algen Extract can also be used as a leaf wash in case of chemical pest control or dusting.

The liquid seems to have like gotten thicker. my plants seem not so lush compared to in the begging. So i guess what im saying is if i dont use it fast enough does it go bad???? I bought a liter about 6 months ago and there is about half of it left

It should last a year after opening aside from excessive heat or cold exposure.

hello, is the algen extract used during flowering? your feed charts on the website and the feed charts available in the brouchure are not alike. on the website it does not mention the use of it on any cycle for flower. in the brouchure feed chart the mix rate is 1ml/L throughout flowering cycle. can you please clarify? 13 year advanced nutrient user switched 3 months ago and never look back!

Hey Jay,
First make sure your looking at the US H&G website because UK likes to run algen extract the whole time. Here in the US we only use it in veg.
ALGEN EXTRACT- Ascophyllum nodosum: cold water extracted seaweed to keep as much biological life intact as possible. Seaweed extracts have ziatine for cell growth, vitamins, natural hormones, amino acids, proteins to strengthen biological and plant life, and trace amounts of micro nutrients. New dose:1-2 ml per gallon.

Happy Growing! Rob

why are the schedule and dosages different in the UK from the us

Hi Jared,

The factory and scientists have formulated these doses for the differences in water and climate and probably some other things I don’t know about. Please follow the feed chart for the country you are in. Peace!

I grow in promix and use your soil a and b. I also use ur additives. After I mix up my nutes I like to let them sit for 12 hours with an airstone to help mix, oxygenate and help get rid of the chlorine. Can I use an airstone to aerate your nutes ??

TYVM for your time,G

Hey Gord,

Its always best to try to remove the chlorine with air before you add your nutrients. After adding nutrients I feel its best to turn you airstone down really low or even better is to add a recirculating pump to break the water surface.

Happy Growing! Rob

Hey guys,
Thanks for coming to the expo here in Long Beach. I’m trying your product line for the first time. I picked up your 40 page booklet and read most of it. I’m curious to know why the Algen Extract is crossed out of all your feeding charts in the back of the booklet.
Thanks again.

Hi Scott,

The factory reformulated the Algen Extract just after the books were printed. The dose is 1-2ml/gallon and it used to be much stronger. Peace!

I am mixing by the litre, could you please tell me how much to add per litre, thanks a lot, it would be very helpful. Do I use it during flowering and vegetation. Waiting to hear from you.
I am from the UK.

Thanks a lot, Martin.

how much algen extract to use for a foliar spray? same amount 1-2 ml per gallon? or more? somebody told me 4-5 ml per gallon of spray.

Could/should I just use magic green to foliar spray instead? does magic green contain same/similar additives for the cytokinins (sea kelp extract?) as algen extract? and probably other goodies as well.

Thanks

Hi Adam,

Algen Extract is not meant to be used as a foliar spray. Whoever told you that is wrong. Magic Green is the House and Garden foliar spray. The proper dose is 5-10ml/gallon used every other week. Peace!

Hi, I use your complete line of House and Garden except for Amino Treatment. I was curious if using Dark Energy with your line would be alright or if Algen Extract having Amino Acids and Vitamins like Dark Energy really makes it obsolete?

Reply

House & Garden January 24, 2012 at 11:20 am

Hi Cassidy,

Algen Extract doesn’t have aminos in it. If anything, Amino Treatment might have some of the Algen Extract properties in it. You can use Dark Energy with Algen, but I wouldn’t use it with Amino Teatment. Peace!
