Roots Excelurator

Roots Excelurator

House & Garden’s Roots Excelurator is a unique formulation. Use at 1.1ml per gallon.

Derived From: Ammonium Nitrate and Potassium Hydroxide.

Ingredients Explained: Roots Excelurator is the top show piece in the House and Garden line of nutrients. It’s exact formulation is a well kept company secret. House & Garden maintains their own nutrient manufacturing facility as well as their own laboratories where they continually test each batch of fertilizer they produce. This ensures that gardeners employing House & Garden receive high quality, consistent products.

Application: Add 1.1 ml of Roots Excelurator to every gallon of water in the nutrient solution. Refer to feeding chart for detailed usage instructions.

Available Sizes: 250mL, 500mL & 1L

FAQ

Why is Roots Excelurator so expensive? As with any quality product, a little goes a long way. Most other rooting additives require 8-15ml/gal where as Roots Excelurator recommends 1.1ml/gal. A 250ml bottle treats over 250 gallons. At .28/L, Roots Excelurator is very concentrated when compared to other products.

“Even other companies say to use the Roots Excelurator with their nutrient line. Since other nutrient lines have root stimulators and they are for sale, having them suggest a House and Garden product to achieve maximum result in conjunction with their recipe can only prove it’s quality. For all those who are able to acquire samples at their local hydroponics stores, you will soon be turned on the Roots Excelurator product for it does wonders.” ~San Diego Hydroponics & Organics

“The price becomes obsolete when you see the results. Plants don’t lie!!!” ~Megawatt Hydro

“Of course if you have used roots you understand it has no competition!” ~Rob Stroner

IN THE LITERATURE FOR ROOTS EXCELURATOR IT IS MENTIONED TO USE DURING THE “REARING” PERIOD. I ASSUME THIS MEANS VEG STATE. WHAT ABOUT USING DURING CLONING PROCESS ??? IF SO, QHANTITIES PER GALLON. THANX

The mix rate is always the same at 1.1ml per gallon. You can start using Root Excelurator starting from the time you take cuttings until about halfway through the flower cycle.

IF ADDED WITH PIRAHANA FROM ADVANCED NUTES IVE GOT THE BEST GROWTH FROM ROOTS TO FRUITS AND NEVER GOTTEN STRESSED FROM NATURE OR SEX(HERMMIES) PLANT THAT LAST SEASON WHER 6 FEET TO PLANTS BECOMING 10 TO 12 FEET WITH LOTS OF FRUITS. THATS A BIG DIFFERENCE SO DO YOU RECOMEND ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD USE FOR ROOTS IN SOIL? ARE U GONNA LOWER THE PRICE ON YOUR PRODUCTS BECAUSE TOO MUCH BASED ON THE ECONOMY OF TODAY?

We recommend using a small circulating pump instead of an aerator. The highly aerobic environment does affect some very important bacteria in Roots Excelurator that thrive in an anaerobic environment. The main difference will simply be a reduced population of those bacteria in an aerobic environment vs. anaerobic.

I forgot to ask. I’m concerned about how long the bacteria will stay alive in the bottle.
There is no information about this at all anywhere.
It is very important.
I’m assuming smaller dosages will still populate a reservoir with bacteria.
I would prefer to only use it to inoculate rooted cuttings and small vegetating plants than dosing my flowering reservoirs. To save on using it up too quickly.

brad September 30, 2010 at 6:15 pm

The bacteria is in stasis in concentrated form in the bottle. Once water is added, the bacteria reanimate. They will stay alive as long as there is food and ample surface area on roots and medium to populate. In an ideal environment, yes, they do reproduce on their own.

I love roots excelerator in fact I love all of the products, I have used advanced, fox farm, botanicare, and a plethora of organics. H&G gives me the biggest most fragrant flowers out of all, the taste is also very nice. All I have to say is… “Follow the Nutrient schedule and the nutrients will last, the price is high from the start but cheap to keep up and well worth it when you see the results.”

Hi,
Do I have to use rooting hormone too for cuttings, or is roots excelurator enough?
Thanks!

House & Garden November 27, 2010 at 9:56 pm

Hello Antoine,

Always use a rooting hormone when making clones. Roots Excelurator will prevent disease from attacking and increase growth when roots show

Happy Growing! Rob.

Hey Orion,

Just use at the same dose or Roots Excelurator if your not going to use rooting hormone, Clonex has rooting hormone. Also make sure you ph balance the water.

I love Root Excelurator! I am in a RDWC system with air stones. I see you don’t recommend using it in an aerated system, but it has constant 24/7 circulation with 2 pumps. Using ONLY Root Excelurator and Multizym and/or Hygrozyme, I have had the least transplant stall going from vegging in F/D trays to RDWC buckets for bloom! I get roots in my buckets in 24-48 hours, versus 5-8 days using other powdered rooting products! I am currently using it with the Aqua Flakes line with amazing results. We are in heavy drought conditions, so water conservation is a must, I don’t do reservoir changes at all, only add back H2O, maintain EC, and add a splash of Root Excel for every other top off! I maintain this all the way until flush! Works amazingly great! We reuse all our grow media and we are a great example of a minimum waste grow facility!

Do you have anything else that works well in conjunction with this type of eco-growing in RDWC/Current culture? I know you say to only use Root Excel up through the 4-5 week of bloom, but we are taking it to 8 weeks on a 10 week schedule and it has done us well! I see you recommend Great White also, would this be feasible in such a system?

Reply

House & Garden January 3, 2011 at 11:26 pm

Hi greenmopho,

Thanks for the compliments. Sounds like you really have your system dialed in. Great White can be beneficial for your system, however, just be aware that their can be some residuals left behind that carry the beneficial bacteria and fungi. Also be aware that anytime you add products from other lines that may cause ph fluctuations. I can also suggest microbial teas as an additive. Reguarding the roota excel, you can use it all the time, but after using the Top Booster , it signals the plant to shut down outer leaves and send all available nutes to the fruits and flowers. So at that point, it is not necessary to add Roots Excel unless the plant is sick or deficiant.

Thanks again for the great comments and feedback. Sounds like everything is going great.

Happy Gardening,
Alan

Wow. That’s all I can say. 5 days and roots were showing in all my cuttings, by day 8 I have 90% of my clones full on rooted. I am in love with H & G.

ive got 2 questions.
1. what week of flowering do you stop roots exceluartor?

2. ive read that it is recommended not to use an air stone with h&g nutrients. what is recommended for dwc bucket set ups that require an air stone for the roots?

thx,
austin

House & Garden November 14, 2011 at 9:50 pm

Hi Austin,

You can stop using Roots Excelurator after week 4 of flower. However, if you’re battling some kind of root situation, then it’s OK to use Roots Excelurator all the way through flowering. Air stones are fine for the DWC system because it is always circulating. There tends to be some slight foaming that occurs when a reservoir is bubbled and not circulating. Peace!

Hello
I recently switch to your complete line after having lock up issues with a different line.
I am using Soil A & B in a hydro-mix soil, a couple of my girls are showing signs of nutrient burn (4 th week flower) from old line .I have flushed with 6.4 ph water twice. How should i Transition to your line ?
Second question I see Root Excel recommend for Fresh cutting ,should i wait for roots to form before starting rest of line on week 1

Thanx Al

House & Garden December 19, 2011 at 10:35 am

Hi Al,

For your transition, I would go a little lighter then the chart says for the week your in, then go ahead and feed as the chart says. You can use Roots Excelurator for your cuttings, you don’t have to wait for roots. It will help your roots come in much faster. Peace!

Yes, you’ll need to adjust the PH after adding the base nutrients and before you add any additives. Peace!

So if my whole line of products was in a garage that got to temps as low as 15f do I need to discard everything (cocos a&b and all addititives) or just roots accelerator ?

Reply

House & Garden January 16, 2012 at 2:07 pm

Hi Bodhi,

If you can swing it financially, I would start over. However, you can pour some out in a container and if the nutrients look like they should look, then give it a try, but starting fresh would be the best. Peace!

Hey guys,
My friend has always used KLN in her clone trays, can she add roots excelurator with the KLN?

Also wanted to say I’m using RE for the first time and my roots are fantastic, coming out the bottoms of my containers white and vigorous. I’m using a sample 1 oz bottle a friend gave me a year ago, silly me didn’t use it when he gave it to me, and the room I stored it in was pretty cool, definitely around 40 many nights. I just learned today it wasn’t supposed to get cold, then saw Bodhi’s post above. Anyway, time to buy a full bottle. Thanks!

Hi LIsa,

Yes, you can use Roots Excelurator with KLN. I’m happy to hear that you’re having such great success with Roots Excelurator. Just imagine how good it could be with the rest of the H&G line. Peace!

Can RE be applied as a stand alone to boost root production in the veg stage, or does it have to be mixed with a base nutrient? Reason I ask this is because I am in an organic soil mix and do not feed the plants in the veg stage as the soil has plenty of nutrients available during this phase.

On a side note, I was thinking of soaking my propagation cubes, rockwool, in RE and botanicares power clone solution at a ph of 5.5. Is this an acceptable ph for your product?

Reply

House & Garden January 30, 2012 at 12:44 pm

Hi Phil,

You can add Roots Excelurator to your water at 1ml/gallon for your potted plants, no problem. You can also soak the little cubes in your solution with Roots Excelurator at a PH of 5.5, just don’t go any lower then that. Peace!

Hi Daniel,

Your problem sounds like root rot. This happens because your water temperature is too high. You need to run a chiller on a DWC system to keep your water temperature between 60F and 68F. Once you get your water temperature under control use the Roots Excelurator to help your root system get healthy. Peace!
